Youth Leadership

shaping their own futures

Centering youth voice

We support youth leadership & self-determination, so LGBTQ+ youth can grow in their self agency. We provide numerous opportunities for youth to take on roles in programming, advocacy, and organizational leadership.

Program design

Peer Leaders are directly involved with planning and leading our youth programs. They attend quarterly meetings with staff, where they have an opportunity to decide on program topics, and select which meetings they would like to facilitate.

Public speaking

Peer Leaders are often asked to speak at events, such as our Come OUT & Celebrate Gay-la, Prides, and youth panels. They work with staff to prepare remarks and build confidence in sharing their story.

Resume building

The Peer Leader program is a paid position, providing youth with real life work experience. This is a great resume builder as high school youth begin to enter the workforce.

Youth committee  and board

members

Youth can take an active role in shaping our organization by joining one of our committees or our Board of Directors. Committee members work on community projects like our signature events, Prides, and more. Board members support organization wide projects such as budget approvals, governance, and the strategic planning process.
